Kiama blowhole

Humpback whales are such gentle giants, and I always find something so moving about the bond between mother and calf. This illustration was inspired by a moment I imagined at the Kiama Blowhole — the mother surfacing and letting out a powerful breath just as the blowhole erupts, like the two are in sync.

Humpbacks are regularly sighted migrating along the South Coast, especially around Kiama, and it’s always magical to catch a glimpse of them. I love weaving little bits of imagination into real places I know and love — and this one felt extra special.
